The craft of poetry.

What makes a good poem, great? What are the techniques poets use that make what they write memorable?

I’m not an academic but I do have a deep appreciation of poetry. As a student and practitioner, it’s helpful to work out how a poem I love works. It’s a bit like performing an X-Ray (never an autopsy). I develop exercises for writing new poems based on what I’m learning, which is a fun way to experiment with a new form or a fresh approach to writing.
